Using the ver.1-1.2 patches with WinXP. How many of our fellow gamers have fallen prey to the game's infamous Act III, Lock and Key, Sewer glitch when the Guard does not trigger the needed passageway to the Salamandre base in the north part of the Trade Quarter? Some have estimated the resultant loss of gamer sanity near 15%! And where have we posted the fixes/solutions? Some wise souls have offered to email an earlier save of Lock and Key to those who've fallen into the depths of misery and mental anguish. So where are these some?!
The percentages are not relevant. The answer or solution is all I'm looking for. Can you help?

Act 3 "Lock and Key" Ladder Spoiler

Are you asking for a saved game from after the ladder goes up using the 1.2 patch? I'm not sure you'll find many of those, since most players are up to at least 1.3, but you might have your best luck asking in the Savegame Market.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.
I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

Did you try to load a game of an earlier part of the game? Sometimes it works and you don't have the ladder glitch then.
If you ask for a save game, pleaase register your game ;)

I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

I bought my Witcher 1 game through Steam. I've not been asked to register (or don't remember doing so), and I don't know how. What do I need to have to register? ›››
With the launch of the new forum registration for witcher 1 is no more . Do you need a save game ?

As Tommy says, you don't need to register anymore. What seems to be the problem with your game? Sometimes people genuinely have a bug, but often they just need advice about where to go and what to do to get the necessary events to trigger. And sometimes we can make a fix to work around the bug, so that you can use your own game.
So, where are you in the game? What's wrong?

I must apologize for not replying sooner, as I was sort of pulled away from playing for awhile.
There is nothing wrong with my game...at least not yet. I was just curious in case I did run into a problem, and I will be continuing with the game now. I think it's a marvelous RPG, and it has a great community as well.
Thank you so much for replying to me.

You're welcome! There's lots of help here if you need it, and plenty of information on the Witcher Wiki as well. But with luck, you won't need it and can continue to have a good time.
