How do I get past Count de Wett to get into the Old Manor, I know I need to kill him but as soon as I get close he starts dialogue and I'm not able to begin an attack..

Also how do I make these quests active again having got this far?
Quest:Her Highness the Striga
Part: The Curse is Broken

Quest: Sweet Revenge
Part: Zoltan

I seem to be stuck in Chapter V with no active quests and don't know how to progress...

I think you need to talk to Velerad at the church in the swamp.

Velerad is not at the church, however if I reenter the church I can see him standing on the other side of the gate but as soon as I exit the church he is not there!

Hold it! Velerad can't be seen outside the church as you already engaged dialog and he entered. You are supposed to follow.
Then, Velerad is outside the locked gate and doesn't let you out until you defeat the Striga if I remember correctly. Quest complete and you move on.

As for De Wett, approach him and dialog starts. Finish dialog and then back down and he and his party will attack. That's when you strike.

You need to search the sarcophagus where Adda lived and find a certain item there.

You're looking for Ostrit's Diary.  This map shows the location, though you shouldn't really have any trouble finding it.  Find the diary, read it, and your journal should update.

So, you and Zoltan are leading the refugees to the Druids' cave, right?  Have you gotten the refugees TO the cave?  The Swamp Cemetery can be a confusing place, and the in-game map is really bad at showing obstacles that you have to go around.  But the Druids' cave really IS there -- escort the refugees there, and the quest should update and move on to the next stage.


As for DeWett, you can't get past him yet because you haven't finished the Striga quest.  Once you finish the striga quest, there's a line of dialogue that makes the right things happen.

Once you find Ostrit's journal in the Striga Crypt, there'll be a line of dialogue where DeWett shows that he knows it was Ostrit's journal that you found.  But how could he know that?  Aha!  He's revealed himself to be the traitor who re-cursed Adda; once he realizes that he's revealed that to you, he'll attack.

This only happens once "Her Highness the Striga" is finished.  If the player hasn't found the incriminating-to-DeWett item in the Striga Crypt, DeWett has no reason to attack the player.

Ooh, that may also happen... ,but the member didn't actually state the dialog of DeWett, so it is possible. I assumed the rest of the quests were done...
Anyways, the player should report on current events and stick to the story... 'cause then I'm confused ;D. Let's hope they figured it out :peace:

Do you mean that the Quests section of your journal is completely blank, or do you just mean that there's no quest that has a "track on map" option?  Not all of the quests can be tracked; that doesn't mean that you can't do them.  The map is a convenience for certain kinds of quests, but it isn't always present, and when present, it isn't always right.

Fight who? De Wett or the Striga? Have you even seen the Striga? Maybe that's what you need to do first.

I was told in this thread that if I'd read Ostrit's Diary I would get a dialogue option allowing me to fight Count de Wett to get into the Old Manor?
I'm not getting that dialogue option so can't progress in the game
Do you think this is a bug and I need to restart?

When you have read Ostrit's diary you know someone (de Wett) has restored the Striga curse on Adda. Did you lift the curse of Adda? Did you ask her who has cursed her once again? If you killed her, you can talk to Velerad about this case. These options should trigger the next phase that the presumed culprit is de Wett.
And when you meet him and his gang at the entrance to Old Manor, he and Geralt have an argument about it and then... they start to fight... they are supposed to do so  :hmmm:

I'm a bit confused of the your update message in  "Sweet Revenge"? Did you find the remaining refugees in the Swamp? That's what "Part: Zoltan" wants you to do. Perhaps you missed that and it's the reason why Velerad doesn't give you the Old Manor hint  :hmmm:

Are you sure you've found and read the diary?  Because if you have, your phase for the quest Her Highness the Striga should no longer be The Curse is Broken.  After you read the diary, the phase updates to

I found the journal of Ostrit, who first cursed Adda years ago. The journal details many spells and proves almost conclusively that someone intentionally re-cast the curse, turning Adda into a striga once more. I have proof. Now to get out of this damned crypt

At the phase of the quest where you say you are, it shouldn't even be possible for you to go talk to DeWett, because you should still be locked inside the crypt!

If you've either killed the striga or lifted the curse, found the diary, and talked to Velerad, then something's wrong, because your journal hasn't updated to reflect these events.

I'd suggest that you restore from a previous save.
