Did you use vampire oil on a silver sword? That might make things easier.
And if possible, draw them out individually, two garkains at a time are nasty.

You're welcome. And congratulations for two dead garkains. :)
Might still be a good idea to whip up some vampire oil when you next rest, there'll be more garkains and fleders. And specter oil will come in handy as well. At least make some argentia, when you don't want to change oils often. Or use other blade enhancements like diamond dust or runes.

You can also drink Black Blood which is not very tasty for all vampires when they want to take a sip of Geralt's blood
The only disadvantage is the high toxicity of this potion.

I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

I keep abandoning black blood in the latter half of the game, because by then my resistance to stun and knockdown is so high, that the vampire can't bite me anymore. I tried just standing there and letting it bite me, but it beat me to death instead. ;)
Also, it doesn't work on alps and bruxae, so when they appear, that's the point in the game where I usually put left over black blood into storage and rely on my combat skills and sword enhancements.

I admit I merely used Black Blood once in the crypt of Murky Waters (where you find the Griggs) just to find out how it works. Geralt didn't attack carefully (which was dangerous), the Garkins were afflicted but I don't know if this damage is severe enough to kill the creature. All I noticed Geralt got a serious health problem if he didn't start to fight asap.
What I don't like about Black Blood is the one-sideness. Geralt can drink an offensive potion, a health potion and maybe a third one and can fight against various enemies.

In the vanilla game black blood is very helpful in the second act, especially for the crypt in the sewers. I would drink a potion, let the three graviers have their way with me rather than trying to fight. One of them would knock me down and every one would take a sip and drop dead at once. That's so funny when Geralt gets up afterwards, surrounded by huge dead monsters and walks away, hehe. :)
Sadly, with FCR that neat little trick doesn't work anymore, because with the low health points you are dead long before they knock you down.

Also find using the spells in combination very useful in vanquishing foe, especially at the higher levels. For example, use the spikes (forget the name), then while the foe is busy impaling itself, hit it with a couple of fire balls or even the stun spell and watch the poor wounded, enchanted beast be torn to shreds by its once friends. Also, the knockdown spell is very useful againt strong opponents. After wounding the opponent, hIt it with a knockdown spell and watch Geralt jump on the creature and finish it off. On occassion he will take its head off...messy, but effective. Also found the protection spell very useful against the Striga.
