Is there anyway to take the quest and be neutral?

Is the only way to remain neutral is to just skip it or what? Because if that's so, sucks to miss out on 3.5k exp.

Also, if I skip the quest can I deal with both the Order Armorer, and the Dwarf Armorer?

If you take the quest you have to make a decision – Order or Scioa'tael. Your decision has an impact on Rayla's / Toruviel's attitude towards Geralt in Act IV.
If you take the quest it's not the crucial decision that you side with one of them. You will make this decision later in the game and you can decide to stay neutral then.
If you skip the quest both armorer make business with Geralt.

I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

This quest was probably designed to give players a taster of the whole 'taking sides' aspect of the game. Being the first time there are no real consequences for what you choose other than which armourer you trade with and some dialogue in later acts.

Actually, that's not entirely true. It also effects your romance options in chapter 5. You can either have Rayla, Toruviel, or two nurses(if you stay neutral). I dunno about you, but getting 2 women sounds like a better reward than one.

Though it does still suck to miss the exp.

I may remember this incorrectly cause it's been 4-5 months since I played that mission. But I think I chose a "Wait, I must think about it" option, or something like that (or wasn't one available?) and then went in and took out the camp by myself.

The last part is correct, I remember running away a few times to regain health, but I'm not sure about the former. But I think there was an option to talk to the other side first, which I did, and then went in alone.

These depend on the choice you make at the end of Chapter 4, not on the Force Recon quest.

Want to be IN a computer game? I'm making one, and I want a picture of you! See here for details.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.
