I didn't know how to make Swallow, either, until like.. Act IV. I'm not home at the moment, but I'm 99% sure that I don't have that book now and I didn't have it in my first playthrough..

Good god, how did you survive!  The developers aren't that mean -- you were supposed to have both Cat and Swallow from Chapter 1 on!

Pfft, I don't trust Triss. For all I know I could get blind from that potion  :'(

*snicker*  Too true!

BUT, you don't learn that she's potentially untrustworthy until Chapter 3.  In the Prologue, when she gives you the formula, she helped to save you.  They're talking about his recovery, and he says, "I owe that to you, Triss."  She asks if he remembers anything, and he says that he remembers swordplay and adds, "I feel a bond when we speak.  I know you were important."  So Geralt would take and use the potions she gives him in the Prologue. ;)

Hmm... turns out I do have the Book of the Swallow now, in the new game. It has the three potions I most missed first time.. Blizzard, Cat and Swallow, heh. I wonder what happened to it the first time around. "Ah, I can sell this for money!" probably..

And well.. I had three Swallow potions that I treasured.. only used them when I really, REALLY needed it. For the mundane healing, I just ate food or meditated for a bit. It certainly got a LOT easier though when I finally learnt how to make Swallow.

Yup, Geralt for sure trusts her in the beginning. But one thing I wonder - did Geralt hear the conversation that Triss and the mysterious Mirror Woman had? Was it just shown to the player? Geralt never implies in any way that he heard it... only that he heard Triss saying something to the mirror.

Personally, for quests I found the wiki to be a lot more convenient than the guide. Just see the 'List of Quests by Act' and open the relevant quest entries in a new tab. It's quite detailed if you don't mind spoilers.

He just woke up and was still a bit dizzy. He merely noticed that Triss was talking to someone in the mirror but didn't understand what they were talking about.
I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

Our perspective throughout the game is Geralt's; I'd be surprised if they showed us somsething that Geralt didn't know.

I thought Geralt was just being cagey and waiting to spring the fact that he'd heard "Never let the witcher guess what you keep from him" on her at the right moment.  But then he had to be teleported out before DeWitless could get him, and then he had to be teleported out before Adda could get him, then he was far away, then they were at the castle with people all around, then Vizima was burning and everything was chaos.  I figuured he'd have to wait to talk to her about it in TW2.

I've made three new adventures for TW1; you can get them at corylea.com/.

I've also made a bunch of mods that fix bugs, kill annoyances or tweak gameplay; you can get those at the Witcher Nexus.

You are very confident of a TW2

You know what? I would be more confident in a Witcher Expansion than a Witcher 2.  Just a feeling.  :peace:

Well, it could just be wishful thinking, but I figure there has to be some sort of follow-up, either an expansion pack or a Witcher Two.  Here are the things I'm thinking of:

1.  The people who made the game love the books.

2.  The story in the game is unfinished.

3.  CDPR got the world to sit up and take notice when it released The Witcher, which added to Poland's pride.

4.  The Witcher has won a bazillion awards.

5.  They sold more than a million copies, which was more than they expected to sell.

6.  They said in an interview that they expected to be working with Geralt for quite some time.

7.  In an uncertain economic climate, releasing a game that has a built-in audience makes sense.

Add those together, and no, it's not definitive, but I'd think that the only thing that would prevent SOME sort of follow-up to The Witcher would be the bankruptcy of CDPR.  I hope the problem with the console game doesn't lead to that.
