So I've laid the smackdown on Javed in his lab in the Old Manor, and I notice that, at the top of the stairs of the pit where you fight the bugger, there's this door with a very picturesque lightning storm barring the way. Beyond that shield, though, I can see "Remains" and some sort of container in what appears to be a fairly lavish bedroom when I hit the L-alt key. I also notice that the torch to the right of the doorway can be extinguished if I hit it with an Aard sign (and re-lit if I Igni in its general direction/vicinity).
My question is this: is there a way through that doorway to the (probably worthless at this point in the game) treasures beyond? If so, is it through that lightning-barred doorway, or via an alternate route from, say, outside? Do the torches on either side of the lightning-barred doorway have anything to do with this? Because I've only been able to affect the torch to the right of the doorway; the one to the left stubbornly remains lit no matter what I do to it.
Thanks. :)

[ACT V] Am I missing something in the Catacombs?
18.05.2009 @ 21:35 #3
Yes, I know about the mirror, etc. etc.
And, having remembered there was actually a map in the game *embarrassed cough* I decided to make use of it and soon realized that I could just walk back to where I wanted to be.
Is just that one interactive torch on the wall; any point to that? Or just a holdover from something that was going to be added, but never actually was? Or is there some little secret that I'm missing there? Am betting on the latter -- particularly since I just finished the game -- but that torch has been nagging at me for a while now. :)

I can 't say for sure that it's a remnant of something that was not fully implemented in the game, but it's entirely possible ... there are several such instances ... like the guard warehouse in the trade quarter ... there was definitely a quest that was originally meant to make use of that location and involved Thaler and more on the royal edicts.
anyway, it is totally possible that something was originally intended to happen there but just didn't make the final cut. :peace:

Yeah, there are many bits and pieces which seem like they belong to a quest, but apparently never made the final cut.
It can make it a little confusing at times (or more likely it makes you think you've perhaps missed something), but the basic rule applies:
If it aint on the Wiki or in these forum threads, then most likely, it isn't a quest related part of the game.
The biggest example is perhaps the Lionhead Spider crypt in the sewers. It seems like it should be a quest / part of another quest, but apparently got cut or left unfinished.

Don't blame the dynamite if you can't light the fuse!
