The original. I bought it back in 2007 when it came out, and wanted to play it through again before I bought the sequel.

Do you have any idea when registration will be back up?

No need to worry about registration . Just download the 1.4 patch from the link along with the corresponding language pack and set the patch up the same way as before . Only this patch doesn`t require registration . Then download and apply the 1.5 patch and you should be good to go . Oh and if you`re running windows 7 then go to the Tages website and click the 5.5 toward the bottom of the page and select one appropriate for your system and follow the prompts to uninstall the Tages driver

It worked -- Thank you!

I was trying to patch from a much older TWEE file I had downloaded and saved onto an external, and it required that the game be registered before I could update. Guess they fixed that.

I was re-installing the game, and I was surprised with the registration problems. Now I try to install patch 1.4, wich doesn't require registration, but when I run TWEE_Upgrade.exe and I choose the components to install, it began to install, but in few seconds it crashes with the following message

I have no virtual drives, and Kaspersky isn't running. My OS is Windows XP.

Any suggestions?

I think a MD5 check is in order to verify you have a full and working patch(s)first before proceeding further . I will post the numbers needed for verification and also a link to a verifier .

Running the verifier is pretty easy . After downloading and unzipping the verifier then open the Nero verifier and copy and paste in the top line of the verifier the file you want to check using the numbers above , Then in the second line using the browse button go to wherever you have the file downloaded and select it . The verifier will the start a verification procedure and when finished either one of two things will happen . If the top line turns green that file is good at which point you proceed to the next file you want to check . But if the top line turns red that means the file is not good and you will need to download that file again .

If after the verification and all files are ok then proceed with the following .
First download and install Universal Extractor . Then go to where you have the new 1.4 patch and right click it and there should be an option to Uniextract to sub directory . When finished open the folder that`s created and you should see disc 1 open that and there should be several files listed copy and paste your language pack in this location and then run the setup at which point the patching should start .

I have just downloaded spanish and english langage packs, and they are ok. Same for TWEE_Upgrade.exe. The only one that didn't pass the test was 1.5 patch, but it couldn't be the problem, because I was installing 1.4 patch and 1.5 is in other folder.

I tried Universal Extractor too, but when i choose isxunpack, it crashes, and when i choose IsntalShield /b interconector, it fails in the same point, with the same "Catastrofic Error". All I could get is that log:

I have the same problem. I always get the same "NotCensored" critical error while the setup is processing "localized.key".
May be there is a problem with patching some languages as the german and other languages may be censored somehow?
Is there a special update.exe for censored content?

I'm running a german WinXP SP3.

Any suggestions?

I extracted the TWEE_Update.exe to a subfolder, copied the german language pack into the disk1 folder and started the setup.exe in the disk1 folder.

Now it worked fine!

isxunpack is the method you want to use . Can you provide your system specs . Sounds like your system is a bit unstable as i have never had Universal Extractor crash on anything . Might be a good idea to run a disc check .

Did you try extracting while antivirus was disabled just in case that Kaspersky is causing the crash of Uniextract ?

Sure, I did it since the 1st time. I tried to uninstalling the game and reinstalling, but without any advance. I think I'm just wasting my time and there's no way to make it work. I just can play with all the bugs from the 1.0v :(

I create another username and password and register,but as I try to update to TWEE,it is said that I DIDN´T REGISTER.I should receive an email confirmation,but it didn´t come.What can I do now?

Did you get the 1.4 patch from the link http://en.thewitcher.../the-witcher/1/ . It should not require registration

I try downloading again 1.4 Patch, but everything is the same. Same Catastrophic error when installing and same crash while using Universal extractor.

I installed Universal extractor in my gf's computer, and Universal Extractor didn't crash, but show a new error. That's the new log:

I`m still working on it . After work of course . I`m wondering if Uniextract is crashing because of the language . It has been awhile since i`ve visited the Uniextractor page Does it have Russian language support ? Also did you run the MD5 on all the language packs that you`re interested in as well as the new 1.4 patch . One other thing , if you have other zipping utilities like winzip try temporarily disassociating all file types .

I donwnloaded Uniextract from the link u gave me a few posts ago, and I tried intalling Uniextract in english and spanish. I tried also installing the game and the EE in english and spanish.

I don't know why "Russia" appear in the log. Maybe the programmer is from that country.

I just use Winrar and Uniextract doesn't work even I uninstall it

The only thing I didn't tried is uninstalling Kaspersky. Now I don't have a valid key, so I'm unemployed and I can't buy a new one, so if I uninstall it, I'll lost all my updates and my computer will be unsafe.

My personal antivirus is Avast and it works really well and did i mention they have a free version . I`ll post a link so you can check it if you want .

I also use Malwarebytes in addition to Avast for some serious malware scanning .
I haven`t given up on your issue it`s just that there aren`t enough hours in the day right now to get everything done .
