so I saved her from the thugs near the inn, escorted her back to her grandma's house, and she gives me rendez vous at the old presumed "haunted" mill ... but the mill is always locked?

what gives?

You don't have to go inside. Just be there at the correct time of day. :)

She asks to meet outside the mill after sundown, and to bring wine.

Please make Vesna passive!

Escort quests are usually pretty awful, but this one is ridiculous. Why does she insist on attacking ghouls and bargests? Every time she attacks, they turn on her no matter how much of a threat Geralt is. I can handle the monsters no problem, but I hate reloading because Vesna is suicidal.

hehe took me a while to do this one. Try just running past all monsters until you get to her Grandma's house.

Also

do you have to meet her at the old mill on the following night? Does it matter if it's a few nights later?

By the way, to save Vesna.

1) Do you still have the axe. That kills barghests easier than your sword to begin with.
2) Use the sign of Aard on any that attack Vesna. Then hack the rest to pieces. Do not use the signs on any you are fighting. You need your endurance to delay those attacking Vesna.

IMO the best way to bring Vesna home alive is just to run to her grand ma` house without starting the fight with the dogs ;D The militia start to fight automatically when dogs appear in the village. After saying 'good-bay" to Vesna you can help them to finish the job 8).

I have the same prob with that (stupid) barmaid  :-\
When there are too many enemies and Vesna is running arount the battle scene _plus_ the dogs attacking I can't take care who of the creatures is after Vesna o.O or am I too stupid?

btw
how do you "reload" her?
I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

I didn't really have a problem, strangely...Geralt runs much faster, so you get to the spawn spot first, hack them to pieces (group style of course, or you can do them one by one with force style, the barghests fall dead after one blow) and run off to the next one.

And yeah, the cutscene was priceless ;D
*Pri - ma - archs!! Gotta catch em all!! Pri-ma-archs!!*

- Mortarion, I choose you!

I use the groupstyle but the chick notoriously prances into the battle  ::)

It's a bit of a cheat/exploit, but I found that if you enter a building along the way, when you emerge she is back to full health...

I just found out that Abigail suffers from the same problem. She'll jump right into the middle of a group of bargests and pointlessly attack with her dagger and they kill her in a couple hits on normal. The friendly NPCs seriously need their AI worked on.

aha... that means if I have such an encounter I guide the mob close to a hut, attack the bunch and if Vesna gets hurt I jump simply into that hut  ;D
