I can't believe this...I just built a new system with an NVIDIA GF GTC 680, an 8 core AMD CPU, 8 gigs of quality ram, a Terabyte 6.0 gb/s HDD and an Asus Sabertooth 990fx motherboard.

Prior to this setup, I had an ATI 7850 and an AMD Athlon quad core Phenom 945 with 8 gigs of ram and everything worked fine.

Now I'm getting the Minimum Requirements not met error and when I add the switch to turn off the check at the shortcut the game loads but I cant up the resolution to 1080p (not even close), and it runs like garbage. I was spending hours with this game and absolutely loving it and I am very upset that I cannot run it!

What should I do?!

I have the latest NVIDIA video drivers and I tried setting everything that I could to application controlled. It does seem that theres some sort of memory sharing going on and my GPU shows 4 gigs where its in fact only 2 gigs. I still dont know what to do and NEED HELP! I want to play this game more than any other!

I'll attach the dxdiag Save All Information files if that helps.

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers any advice!

PS: The last html link regarding JOEY-PC is from PC Wizard...thought it might help.

desperately awaiting any help..

I noticed you have some DX options disables . You can try reinstalling DX just in case that`s the issue

yeah, if you have this problem and under dxdiag (32 bit version) your directdraw is disabled or partially enabled or not available go here: http://answers.micro...fc-68b599b31bf5

There's a few registry keys that put directx 32 bit into software mode...I changed two registry keys from 0 to 1 and now my dxdiag is showing all enabled and the game runs without the error and with maximum graphics! Thank god! Now if I only knew how to get my savegames from Steam's cloud servers...

I bought a windows 8 computer for xmas. It has Intel® HD Graphics 4000 and I am getting the min. system requirements message. I downloaded the 1.5 patch. I have tried the shortcut trick. I have an i7 Toshiba laptop. Is there a way to work around this issue? Can this game not be played with those graphics? Thanks.

You can run the game but it will be at low resolution and you will not be able to change it . The -dontForceMinReqs has to be run on the witcher exe and nowhere else to be effective . Go to your game installation , namely the witcher/system folder and locate the witcher exe and right click it and select "send to desktop" . Close all open windows . Now click on the new shortcut you just made and select properties and in the shortcut tab in the target line to the right and outside the quotation mark type (space)-dontForceMinReqs then click apply and ok .

I can't find the witcher.exe - only the launcher. I deleted the icon from my windows 8 metro start menu and I'm wondering if I shouldn't have done that? Do I need to re-install it?

The icon to which you refer is to the launcher . I don`t know about 8 but in 7 and earlier and if you installed to the default location it would be C:\Program Files or Program Files (X86)\The Witcher\system . That is where you will find the witcher exe

If you found launcher.exe, you are one folder above witcher.exe.

There should be a folder called system in the same place you found launcher.exe. Look in that folder for witcher.exe.

Don't worry about having deleted the Metro icon. If you actually use them, you can recreate them by creating new Desktop icons and pinning them to Metro (right-click, Pin to Start).

I, too, am getting this error. I can certainly bypass it by bypassing the forced reqs, but when I do, I'm forced to play with low textures and subpar resolution. I have updated all NVIDIA Drivers and ran the DX update to no avail. I do not get the "softwareonly" key to change in my registry settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok first make sure that your DirectX is installed then retry the game . In case you sed the web installer . The following is the June 2010 version

Finally got it working after several days. Had to change EmulationOnly to 0 in registry. Thanks for the help!
