You might try the IFO fix located in the FAQ

¿I'll have to delete all the other game saves and use only the one I modify deleting the .sav files of the folder?

Without deleting the other saves, it crashed as usual after an hour of gameplay:

You might try exiting all virtual discs as well these cause problems with any game

Damn... I'm pulling my hair out with this Win7 64-bit piece of rubbish :o(

I've been trying to play The Witcher on the above system for months now and can't get it to run stable. Sometimes it will freeze after 1 minute.. other times I can play for maybe an hour or more with no issues. The freezing issue definitely happens very frequently in the swamps. As a result, I can't even venture into the swamps at all now.

I'm positive that its a Windows 7 issue, because I spent last weekend installing WinXP on my 2 year old MacBook Pro (bootcamp partition) and then re-downloaded The Witcher from Steam. I copied a few of my save games from my new Win7 64bit laptop over to the save folder on the MacBook. Amazingly, it hasn't frozen at all on the MacBook (played for about 6 hours the other night and no freezes). The only problem is that it runs like crap on the MacBook (maybe about 20fps max... and thats with almost everything set to minimum or turned off completely)  :o(

I really need to get my Witcher installation on my new Win7 laptop working in order to get some enjoyment from the game.  It's a beautiful looking game and I get totally soaked into the atmosphere. I just wish I could find out whats breaking it in Win7, so that i can play it maxed out and at 30fps.

Unfortunately I still crash. Although I have reinstalled DirectX June 2010 and VC 2010 Redistributable. I did not install the game as administrator, but I run it as such. What can I do?

The configuration of my pc:

Intel Core i7 920 CPU
6 GB ram
7 32-bit Windows Operating System
ATI 5870
Driver 8821
Catalyst 3.11

¿Are you talking about daemon tools and this kind of programs? I always unmount all images and close the application before I play.

Seeing the errlogs...its normal that the amount of free virtual memory is so low?

I'm in chapter 4 but its very annoying, I can't play for more than an hour and always with fear of losing my save game.

I can play The Witcher on Windows 7 64-bit. I found this FAQ to be helpful when I installed the game.

Can you read the FAQ: http://www.thewitche...p?topic=17503.0 and remove TAGES as explained, then retry, also try to disable and quit the AVAST Software before running the game.

I recorded the game but I do not understand what should change. It is not a software error?

My version of The Witcher is 1.4.5.1304.

So I put in the file list (txt format):

1) errorlog
2) Pc info ---> PC Wizard -> video card information
3) An error that I get into Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer Application
4) the configuration of my pc

Enhanced I installed the game, then patch 1.5 and 4 unofficial mod in administrator mode on Windows 7

twtexturmod
perfect rain
perfect blood
2009_09_22_witcherhirescharacters

The game crashes me, in bursts. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after some time. Often, before crashing it gives me kind of graphical imperfections of hair Blacks Geralt, Geralt's body texture with dark, invisible walls and the like.

Apparently someone else also had a problem similar to mine from what I read here:

The next thing to try would be to uninstall the mods. We need to get you to a configuration where the game becomes stable. The mods hinder that, a lot. They're work done by parties who are not the game developers, they are not supported, and there's no guarantee that they work with your hardware.

The errors you are seeing are strong indications that your graphics system is malfunctioning. You have to eliminate any potentially defective textures; that is why you should start by removing the mods. You should also eliminate overheating as a cause, because it definitely causes errors just like that.

The Witcher does not cause errors like that on its own. It could cause errors like that when it is aggregated with a mod containing ill-formed textures, or when it is run on hardware that is not functioning correctly.

I will start to remove the mod, one by one to see if the system becomes more stable or less.

I have the impression that after a while that game, the memory becomes full and begins to give me texture errors to crash.

I also read other people who have had similar problems, I'm not sure depends on the mod.

In order to prove memory exhaustion, you will have to start up Performance Monitor and run it. A lot of claims of memory exhaustion are made just because a fault appears over time when a program is run. There can be many other reasons, including bit errors due to chipsets or memory operated at their limits, and [i]especially with high-performance GPUs[i], problems caused by overheating or poorly regulated power.

the mods should not matter since they're only graphic mods, maybe your video card memory gets full, so you remove twtexturmod but that should not crash your game, maybe bog down the performance yes

read the FAQ: http://www.thewitche...p?topic=17503.0 apply the Vista/7 tips ( Compat Mode, disable Autosave, etc ) retry, reattach the new errlog.txt on another new crash

Definitely not a overheating problem in my case. I checked Tº and are perfectly normal, also if it is a Tº issue I must have problems with other modern games like Mass Effect 2 or Left 4 Dead 2 and I can play this games for hours without any problem. The only graphic error I notice before crash is the famous "black map".

The most curious thing is that the crash is very regular: after around an hour of gameplay.

Apparently it was all the fault of the mod "twtexturmod. How sad, it really seemed to have interesting textures in high resolution for The Witcher.

actually it does not have such things, just the regular textures scaled up and processed a bit in PS or something, not like having true new high res quality textures unfortunately.

I'm running the game on Win7 x64 and I can play the game perfectly fine, but there is no voice what-so-ever. I had the old Witcher and updated it, first to 1.4 with the english language pack ,and then to 1.5. The game ran withot any problems about one month ago (without the updates), but now nothing has a voice, even the intro cutscene !
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! I had to pay about 7 bucks to download the update (dont ask why) and I'm going crazy.

I don`t know why you would need to pay for an update . All updates are free .
Click the launcher or witcher exe and when you get to the new/load game screen click option>game options and there should be a list of available voice overs and subtitles . Is English available and can you select it ?
