Hi,
Havent found any mention of this on the forum so thought I would ask.
The Innkeep from the Hairy Bear has disappeared in the game. He is not there at any hour of the day, so I cannot access my storage, or sleep there. Anyone seen that bug?
Thanks
NW

This is a part of copy-protection. Seems like reinstall could be in place. Do you have original retail witcher or the new ee retail?
I doubt that CDPR implemented copy protection that lets NPCs randomly disappear.
Languages: German, English, Chinese, some French
Also known as: GhostNWN and FactionHeir
Problems? difficulties? PM me if you would like to talk about it!

Except that they (or rather Atari) did. Look it up. TAGES protection removes key NPC characters from the game if it suspects the game is illegal copy. Similar scheme has been used in other games as well like Titan Quest.

Weird, though I bought the game (Twice now), I use the fixed exe, and I haven't noticed any disappearing people yet, neither has my wife... Hmmm Odd that a legit user (not using afixed exe) would get punished where as.... Just odd... Either I'm just lucky, haven't got to that part yet or TAGES sucks....
Insanity is just a matter of opinion!

I'm having a similar problem with the Reverend too. If reinstalling fixes it permanently, then I will gladly do that. However, I would love to have a word with the idiot who authorized this. I mean, if there's the actual DvD in the drive, the game should be able to figure out that it is not pirated. Maybe this will fix the issue where chapter 1 refuses to fully load 90% of the time and fully lock up my computer forcing a restart. Could just ONCE someone release or patch a game to the point where I don't have to tweak it for several hours in order to play it?
maybe i'll try a fixed exe first though, before I risk losing my save files.

Yes, in fact this is the second new game with EE where the reverend has disappeared. If we're going by loading from the prologue into chapter 1, it is the 6th time he's disappeared. (Could be more if I count all the times the chapter didn't load or the 2 crashes to desktop for no apparent reason while I was running to him.)
Edit: I think I may have fixed it. Reinstalling didn't work. Fixed Exe didn't work. Reinstalling then immediately slapping on a fixed exe let me finally meet him for once. Hopefully he will still be there tomorrow when I load up the game again.

Got the same issue, Reverend isn't anywhere to be found. Ironically I have the original Witcher and I downloaded the Enchanced patch while a buddy of mine has a torrented version and it seems to work perfectly for him. Maybe I should throw away my BOUGHT Witcher copy and just download it?
Get a grip on your crap Atari/CDProject and fix this kind of stuff. One thing's for sure, I'm NOT buying another product from these ******!
Mind your language and note that piracy will get you banned.

I apologise for the language, was uncalled for I know but after wasting more then 5 hours with 4 reinstalls it kinda figures.
I am NOT promoting piracy but I am however questioning the foolish descision for a protection system that hits PAYING customers more then pirates. If there is a clear solution provided for this issue there won't be any posts like this at all. And no, this isn's a small problem, have you checked the fan-site forums also? A LOT of people are complaining about this.

Gonna check in with my bud for the savedgame but alas I can't try another DVD drive since my DVDRW station just felt like blowing itself up a few months ago. Haven't had issues with other games so far. Will do a new install tomorrow with the provided saved game.
Additional question: is it possible the copy protection is triggered due to a faulty patch numbering? I mean would it help me if I hunted down the prior patches before 1.4 and install those first?
