As far as I remember, it wasn't the beggar that wanted the White Gull, it was some old woman. I didn't give mine to her, even though I wondered what might come of it- just doesn't seem like a Geralt thing to do- no self-respecting Witcher would do it.

it's an old woman labelled "beggar", that's the source of the confusion ... not all the beggars look like gramps :)
