In the Prologue, Triss mentions (or possibly it's Lambert who says that Triss mentions) that the King of the Wild Hunt was "around" when Geralt was found
In Act I, he shows up in the basement of the chapel
In Act IV, he shows up in the fields
and finally, he's there in the Epilogue ... is that what you were wondering ?

I never did that quest from Act I and Geralt still said that he knew King of the wild hunt from before :o
Didn't you do 'Dead hand of the past' from Leuvaarden? There Geralt has the occasion to meet the Hunt and exchanging new myracle about "I know you from the past" :o
I can see what you see not, Visions milky then eyes rot.
When you turn they will be gone, whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be, shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind – cast down into the Halls of the Blind…

I think with the EE release it will be a lot more obvious. Restored dialogue = some awareness of the wild hunt.
When I played through the game several times, I never knew who the wild hunt was either when I met him in the chapel and I did do all the quests.

I don't know if there's a bug or if this is normal, but I just met this specter for the first time in the old chapel basement near the end of chapter 1. Ok, so it's a big scary specter, I've no problem with that. The thing is Geralt seemed to recognize him. Isn't he amnesic ? And in the journal, it is written that the king of wild hunt "apeared again". Now, maybe I have a pretty bad memory, but I really don't think having ever seen this guy before. Maybe I should have ?
Oh, and just so that I don't start a new useless topic, I'll add a little question : Is there a way to keep the witcher's pendant in magic detection mode ? Each time I load a game, it get back to monster detection mode.

in the game there is the suggestion that the Wild Hunt was what was chasing Geralt through the woods in the opening scene. Also Lambert (or Triss) mentions that the King of the Hunt was around at that point.
Also, in the books, the spectre has appeared before
I've always tuned my medallion to detect monsters so i'm not sure ... i find the detect magic option useless

I found the Wild Hunt recognition confusing as well. At first I thought I must have breezed through a conversation which explained it (guilty of doing that alot), but repeated playing of the game found no obvious explanation on who the spectre was. I simply assumed that it was a pre-history aspect from the books (sadly I have never read them), and played on regardless.
However, I agree completely on the magic option of the medallion. A neat additive to the depth of the game, but not useful at all. I have never tuned the medallion to magic mode. EVER.
Don't blame the dynamite if you can't light the fuse!

Okay, so then the dialogue wasn't written very well. For one without knowledge about KofWH, the whole remembering him from before is quite confusing. Can anyone enlighten me what is the history of the King and Geralt.
Also, I must've had a bug in the chapel. I read that Leo's ghost is supposed to appear after I buried the guy in the chapel. He never did.
Also, is there any difference in your replies to the KotWH in the chapel?
Thanks for any replies.

One dialog path allows you to avoid the battle with Leo.

Of course my first post has to be a silly question--
I have read through the forums as much as I dare (as I have not yet finished the enhanced version of this game, though my boyfriend has), and I was too confused at why the King of the Hunt recalled us in the tomb with the Dead Hand Quest. I also have checked the forums and found the post where it says that you hear it from Triss or Lambert. Here is the problem- I have started my game over for the specific reason of finding the first encounter-- but HOW do you trigger the dialogue or the encounter? Or am I just missing something in the cut-scenes?

I'm not real sure but I think the Wild Hunt is the one chasing Geralt in the first cut-scene in the intro when Vesimer and Eskel find him near death.

I was never happy with how that was done, there's a vague mention about him in the Prologue, then it's possible to completely miss anything to do with the King until the end of the game. During my first play through I didn't complete that quest in Act 1 so it made even less sense that he appeared. It's a little better in the EE in English, but it is still not very clear. I wonder if it was better in Polish :-\

After you give Triss her meds do not go to the funeral right away. Tell her you have things to do.
Go to Lambert, he is in meeting hall (next to armory). IF you talk to Eskel you can start the fist fighting quest then, but you want to talk to Lambert.
Lambert will tell you that during the magic storm, Triss came to them and told them that they had to follow the wild hunt. That is when they found you.
So you DO remember the King of the Wild Hunt.
